Androgen is a word derived from ancient Greek, denoting a male hormone that gives men their male characteristics.

Androgen Androgen is about men, who are able to create a safe space for women in their arms. Only a resolute man aware of his mission will be able to manage it."

The male duet opens the topic of contemporary man and his position in present society. Performance pays a tribute to the live, sometimes even unrestrained and belligerent world of men and it's anchoring in inner meditative position. Artfully uses powerful music and stage designs fragments. Androgen simply hypnotizes the audience with the suggestive expression of masculine energy in various forms.

Tibor Trulik
In Štúdio tanca dance theatre works as a professional dancer, teacher, choreographer and leads the contemporary dance classes for adults. He used his choreographic skills in a various dance projects with children, such as the project KNOT (2006), the dance fairy tales ABOUT THE SISTER SEIZED BY DRAGON (2008) and TREES (2011). As a choreographer also collaborated with a rock band Longital, and with the Elementary Art School in Bytča on the project CONNECTIONS. During the festival Four (+1) dance days for you and Arttherapy festival presented his dance solo AWFUL HOME. In 2009 he won the TAOS- Award for the Dance Personality of the season and in 2013 presented his first full-length choreographic piece The Tower of Babel, for which he received the Literary Fund Award.

The second whole evening choreography of Tibor Trulik is focused on the pair, it’s safer and more focused. Elemental energy typical for his first piece established atmosphere as a built motive, but it was changed into the contemplativeness, predatory was changed into searching of origin male thinking, strength and personality. Tibor Trulik together with Jakub Jeňo forms synchronic duo, which can work on a similar physical length…. Dancers are very flexible, risking in flight phases with wood sticks, that lay in the background before. And in the end they drop all of them. It’s a fair fight of two men who passed by phase of demonstrations, and small dandify (what we know from trips of Slovak recruits in the forest). This is a duel between two balanced men, who despite of different opinions and they can keep their friendship.

Choreographer skilfully materializes the abstract theme. There is tenderness, there is an immediate threat (wood sticks on air), but mostly an authentic commitment of interesting dance performance of both dancers. Strength gives a successful music composition of Matej Štesko, and its musical accents choreographer involves in the movement. More than a game archetypes we can feel internal notice. Dancers are so sweaty in the end, but whatever is really is, what drives them, they got it out- and us in. Female trio reflects to the current social issues. The Nucleus was created as an artistic reaction to the repression of freedom and absurd political interference in the activities of the Štúdio tanca dance theatre, but also in a public life in Banská Bystrica region. Performance reveals the look-in on different ways of power in man's hands and its affect on destiny of ordinary people.


Zuzana Ďuricová Hájková
works as a choreographer, teacher and director of Štúdio tanca dance theatre. She studied choreography at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, followed by on art internship in the prestigious Ballet Company of Gyor in Hungary. After graduation she worked at the Dance Conservatory in Bratislava, artistically led a ensemble of modern dance Auriga and The Group of contemporary dance. As a choreographer collaborated with many theatres in Slovakia and also abroad (DAB Nitra, DJZ Prešov, BDnR Banská Bystrica, Klicper Theatre in Hradec Kralové, East Bohemian Theatre Pardubice, National Theatre Prague). Zuzana worked as a artistic head of ballet in the State Opera, as a founder and teacher of dance department on Conservatory of J.L. Bella in Banská Bystrica. Since 1998 is a director of Štúdio tanca dance theatre, the professional dance theatre. Zuzana was awarded the first prize in the national Czechoslovak choreography competition for the project Stop, won the award for The Best Direction and Choreography for the performance New trees in me and in 2009 she received the main prize at the DIV festival for the performance The closeness of estranged ones. During the 18 years of existence of theatre, she has created two dozens authorical projects, for example Satto- the wind dance, The Silent Desert, I have not written to you for so long, Salmons, The Nucleus and she became a prominent figure in developing the awareness of the contemporary dance in Slovakia.

Zuzan Ďuricová Hájková finally decided to transform a part of her personal experience to the dance production. The Nucleus is over the years (the last was presented a dance essay about the meaning of human existence Salmons in 2012) a new choreography. At the first sight we feel the shift from improved appearance relations, moves to factual, specific style. On summer festival Kiosk in Žilina the voices has been heard, that the Slovak contemporary dance is almost out of political or social issues, makers and interesting creators more emphasize on searching for personal feelings and interpersonal relationships and partnerships crises. In the Nucleus there are several political and social problems: the inability of personal empathy, misunderstanding, frustration, touch with the national history. Zuzana Ďuricová Hájková is interested in the way of thinking of people, why instead of rational arguments are unable to be reduced to gossipry, aggression based on fail. It’s no secret that the inspiration of choreography, which created during the such a short period, are circumstances mentioned in the beginning of this article. It was not about the operation of theatre, but also the people in and that it was the blow to the quick, demonstrates performing of three dancers. They get into border positions, that not only we as an audience, but also themselves ask about, where it comes from. The name of theatre was besmirched, but it has caught the breath and here is the answer. Plus many greetings to everybody who felt that Slovak contemporary dance does not reflect on political situation. Katarina Zagorski: Decadent Bystrica and kiss from the next table.
